The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) “It’s Your Neighbourhood” Award
We are delighted to have achieved Level 5 – Outstanding in the Royal Horticultural Society’s It’s Your Neighbourhood programme.
This prestigious recognition celebrates the work of community gardening groups across the UK that are making a positive difference to their local environment and bringing people together through gardening. Level 5 is the highest level of achievement in the RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood programme.
For everyone at Stamford Street Allotment Society, this award is a fantastic recognition of the commitment, hard work and community spirit shown by our members and volunteers.
Growing a stronger community in Ellesmere Port.
Our allotment is about much more than growing fruit and vegetables. We are committed to creating a welcoming, sustainable and vibrant community space where people can share knowledge, develop new skills and work together to improve the environment around them.
Over recent years, we have developed a range of projects that support biodiversity, encourage wildlife and create opportunities for the wider community to get involved. These include our Community & Sensory Garden, Communal Fruit Orchard and Outdoor Classroom, alongside our ongoing environmental and community projects such as Chester Zoo Networks for Nature Project.
We are also working to improve habitats for wildlife, including our Communal Orchard Rewilding Project, where we are creating a wildflower meadow and developing new habitats for pollinators and other wildlife.
Recognition of our volunteers
The Level 5 – Outstanding achievement belongs to the whole Stamford Street Allotment community.
We are incredibly proud to have been recognised at the Outstanding level and will continue working to make Stamford Street Allotment an even better place to grow, learn, connect and enjoy the outdoors.
